FAST & LOOSE

I developed this fast and loose (!) painting style after attending an amazing workshop in Clarens with the late, great Richard Rennie. He mixed his colours on the fly on a large tray, adding bits and bobs almost instinctively as he went along. It’s a really fun way of painting although it can be a bit scary as one can bugger the entire thing up in the wink of an eye! The colours used here…. French ultramarine, cerulean, cobalt, indigo, hooker’s green, light red, raw umber and yellow ocre….and maybe one or two more that I can’t remember. Oh yes also cadmium red for the red dots under my signature. And Payne’s gray. Done during my Saturday demo, Easter weekend. Lots of fun!
